Thoughts on Anne Curtis, KC Concepcion and Instagram Wars
Three days ago, KC Concepcion posted an Instagram photo with a quote. I only saw the photo today, after being notified by a fellow Anne Curtis fan. A lot of people, fans from both camps as well as other netizens flocked to give their reactions and a number of them immediately connected it to Anne Curtis.
Connected or not, I think KC should be more careful with her posts and how people would interpret them. I’m not saying it’s wrong to post these things or these quotes. Perhaps they really have nothing to do with Anne and she’s just being her usual self by posting her current feelings or thoughts. Who knows right? But, she has to understand that timing is very important. The issue is still very fresh; the public and the media have not stopped feasting on it. And, she also has to remind herself that she is a public figure so it’s inevitable that people will dig deep in whatever comes out of her mouth or share to the public. Perhaps KC wants to freely post whatever she wants but she has to be prepared of its possible aftermath. I understand that it’s a big burden for celebrities to think of what other people will say or how they will react. It must be such a daunting task but they have to do it and do it consistently.
I thought that after her juice post on Instagram, she would be more cautious so as not to let anyone misinterpret her posts again. She is already aware that her previous post about the juice drink became the subject of controversy after people thought she was "making parinig" and was trying to diss Anne. She is adding fuel to the flame and is setting up a new breeding ground for controversial discussions, whether on purpose or not. People are continuously feuding on the comments section of her IG photo (as expected), just like what happened with her juice photo. Maybe next time, she can put a disclaimer or something.
I remember an old Showtime episode where Anne joked around and teased Maja Salvador by calling her "Majarot". It would have been just a harmless banter and given the setting (a noontime show full of humor and fun), Maja shouldn’t be that offended right? But, the problem was that it happened during the height of the whole Kim-Gerald-Maja issue. Maja was getting a lot of flak so calling her names like that on national TV only made things worse and also made Anne look insensitive. Anne was not aware of the issue and probably only found out about it after being criticized for her remark. She immediately explained that she knew nothing about the issue and apologized for what she said. I believe that if Anne had prior knowledge about Maja’s situation and the whole media frenzy that it caused, she would know better than make jokes like that especially on live television.
To KC’s fans, I hope you don’t take this negatively. Although I’m not really a KC fan, I have no ill feelings towards her and I respect her as an artist and as a person. I’m not accusing KC of deliberately "making parinig". I also have no proof that KC is indeed referring to Anne. I just hope that the next time she posts her thoughts and puts something out there, she would think more than twice and assess all the possible consequences that come with it.
To fellow Anne fans, please don’t aggravate the situation any further by bashing KC or exchanging hateful words with her fans. I humbly ask you to resist the urge to post negativity on her Instagram/Twitter. If you have something to say, convey your message the mature and correct way.
To everyone, let us not push these two ladies to go into a war they never wanted to be in. Wag na nating pagsabungin. Let us also be responsible in whatever we say and do. Make love, not war. :)
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. (1 Peter 2:1)
